Basic procedure of buying property in Greece

·     Appoint a lawyer who will be representing you and make sure the property is free of mortgages or claims from third parties. Your lawyer after an analytical presentation of the procedure of buying property in Greece will accompany you to a Public Notary (a government appointed body) where you can complete the documents required to give the lawyer Power of Attorney to represent you in future steps,  accompanied with a translator (buy in your name and your behalf).

·     Open a bank account so you can transfer money from your country .

·     Obtain a tax registry number (A.Fee.Mee) so you can pay public tax.

·     Appoint a Public Notary because a private agreement is not valid in Greece (in the presence of whom the contract deed is to be signed thereby becoming an official transaction).

·     Prepare and pay the purchase contracts and transfer taxes.

·     Sign the contract at the Public Notary's office.

·      Submit proof of transfer at the Land Registry.

* Furthermore, if there is no construction licence we have to issue one.

Because the complexity of the procedure our clients cooperate with our well known and highly recommended partners in Chania and we closely supervise and consult for their benefit.

Project specifications have to be presented in a written form and then through analytical reviews and guidance, final decisions, are made. Payments have to be agreed under certain terms and conditions.
